قالت المحافظة في بنك الاحتياطي الفيدرالي الأمريكي ليزا كوك إن التضخم في الولايات المتحدة يتجه في المسار الخاطئ، وإنها ستكون مستعدة لرفع أسعار الفائدة إذا استمر هذا الوضع.

وعلى رغم أن كوك أكدت أنها تفضل إبقاء أسعار الاقتراض ثابتة في الوقت الحالي، وتتوقع أن يتباطأ نمو الأسعار مجدداً خلال الأشهر القادمة، إلا أن تصريحاتها تضعها في صف عدد من مسؤولي بنك الاحتياطي الفيدرالي الأمريكي الذين أشاروا إلى أن تسارع التضخم في الولايات المتحدة أصبح الآن مصدر قلق أكبر للسياسة النقدية من سوق العمل.

وبينت كوك في تصريحات معدة لفعالية في جامعة «ستانفورد»: «أريد أن أكون واضحة بشأن تقييمي للمخاطر: ما زالت المخاطر تميل نحو ارتفاع التضخم في الولايات المتحدة».

وأضافت كوك أن استمرار التضخم في الولايات المتحدة فوق هدف بنك الاحتياطي الفيدرالي الأمريكي البالغ 2% على مدى 5 سنوات يثير خطر ترسخ ضغوط الأسعار في سلوك تحديد الأسعار والأجور.

وأضافت: «بناء على ذلك، فإنني مستعدة لرفع أسعار الفائدة، إذا لم تظهر موجة خفض التضخم في الولايات المتحدة المتوقعة في الوقت المناسب».

The governor of the American Federal Reserve, Lisa Cook, stated that inflation in the United States is heading in the wrong direction, and she would be prepared to raise interest rates if this situation continues.

Although Cook confirmed that she prefers to keep borrowing rates steady for now and expects price growth to slow again in the coming months, her statements align her with a number of Federal Reserve officials who have indicated that the acceleration of inflation in the United States has now become a greater concern for monetary policy than the labor market.

Cook noted in prepared remarks for an event at Stanford University: “I want to be clear about my assessment of the risks: the risks still lean towards rising inflation in the United States.”

She added that the persistence of inflation in the United States above the Federal Reserve's 2% target over the next 5 years raises the risk of entrenched price and wage pressures in pricing behavior.

She concluded: “Based on that, I am prepared to raise interest rates if the anticipated wave of inflation reduction in the United States does not materialize in a timely manner.”
