أظهرت بيانات وزارة التجارة الأمريكية، أمس (الخميس)، استقرار معدل التضخم المفضل لدى الاحتياطي الفيدرالي في أبريل، وهو ما جاء متوافقاً مع التوقعات، في حين تسارع نمو الاقتصاد الأمريكي خلال الربع الأول بأقل من التقديرات الأولية.

وجاءت الضغوط التضخمية مدفوعة بقفزة في أسعار السلع بنسبة 0.7% خلال شهر أبريل نتيجة لارتفاع أسعار البنزين بنسبة 5.5%، إلى جانب زيادة أسعار الخدمات بنسبة 0.3%، بحسب «CNBC».

وتزامنت هذه البيانات مع مراجعة هبوطية حادة أجرتها وزارة التجارة لمعدل نمو الناتج المحلي الإجمالي للربع الأول من العام الحالي، إذ سجل الاقتصاد نمواً بمعدل سنوي قدره 1.6% فقط، مرتفعاً من 0.5% في الربع الرابع، ولكنه أقل من 2% في القراءة الأولية.

وأوضحت الوزارة أن هذا التعديل الهبوطي يعود إلى تراجع مستويات الإنفاق الاستهلاكي والاستثمار عما تم تقديره في البداية، مجهضاً توقعات الأسواق والمحللين باستقرار النمو عند تقديراته السابقة.

Data from the U.S. Department of Commerce showed yesterday (Thursday) that the preferred inflation rate of the Federal Reserve remained stable in April, which was in line with expectations, while the growth of the U.S. economy accelerated in the first quarter at a rate lower than initial estimates.

The inflationary pressures were driven by a jump in commodity prices by 0.7% during April due to a 5.5% increase in gasoline prices, along with a 0.3% rise in service prices, according to "CNBC".

This data coincided with a sharp downward revision made by the Department of Commerce to the GDP growth rate for the first quarter of this year, as the economy recorded an annual growth rate of only 1.6%, up from 0.5% in the fourth quarter, but lower than the 2% in the preliminary reading.

The department explained that this downward adjustment was due to a decline in consumer spending and investment levels compared to initial estimates, undermining market and analyst expectations for growth to remain at its previous estimates.
