Oil prices have risen, as investors continue to exercise caution regarding the outcomes of talks between Iran and Oman and whether they will restore the flow of oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz.Brent crude futures increased by 88 cents, or 1.11%, to $80.33 per barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures also rose by 71 cents, or 0.94%, to $75.93 per barrel.Brent crude recorded a slight increase at yesterday's settlement, while U.S. crude fell slightly. Hopes for Opening "Hormuz"

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqaei clarified that Tehran and Muscat have reached a mutual understanding regarding the geographical coordinates for a shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, noting that the final draft of the joint announcement is being prepared.

While U.S. President Donald Trump indicated that an agreement to reopen the strait is imminent, U.S. officials continue to assert their refusal to grant Iran control over one of the world's most important energy supply routes.

For his part, senior oil market analyst Tim Waterer reported that investors still remember the short-term memorandum of understanding signed last June; hence, it is understandable that there are concerns that any new agreement may be just as fragile.

Return of Prices

Oil market analyst Lena Tran stated, "Current diplomatic efforts have only increased hopes for a potential easing of tensions, and risks related to military activity, maritime transport, and oil supplies from the Middle East remain strong."

Economist at a securities firm Yuki Takashima added, "Prices have returned to the levels they were at when the U.S. and Iran signed a temporary agreement on June 17, with investors closely monitoring whether the two parties will be able to reach a final agreement."

On the other hand, recent data from the Energy Information Administration showed that U.S. crude oil inventories have risen as refinery utilization rates fell slightly and imports increased slightly.
