The credit rating agency "Fitch" confirmed the sovereign rating of the United States at +AA, with a stable outlook, based on the strength and size of the American economy, along with the resilience of financing bolstered by the global role of the dollar as a reserve currency, despite ongoing high financial pressures.

The agency expects the U.S. government deficit to rise to 7.4% of GDP by 2026, compared to about 6.8% in 2025, noting that efforts to reduce the deficit through spending control will remain limited, as the share of non-defense spending declines to less than 15% of total spending.

According to "Fitch" estimates, the government debt-to-GDP ratio is expected to rise to 123% by the end of 2028, before continuing to climb to around 128% by 2030.

The agency also expects the United States to reach the debt ceiling of $41.1 trillion by mid-2027, reflecting ongoing pressures related to the fiscal path and high levels of debt.

Fitch had downgraded the credit rating of the United States from AAA to +AA in August 2023, against the backdrop of worsening debt burdens and political divisions.

Regarding the labor market, the agency pointed to a slowdown in demand for labor and a noticeable decline in the pace of job creation during 2026, despite the continued strength of the American economy supporting the maintenance of the credit rating at its current levels.
