The US dollar stabilized today (Monday) near its highest levels in 18 months, amid investor caution over rising tensions in the Middle East, and anticipation of US inflation data to be released this week, which could influence the monetary policy direction of the Federal Reserve.

The dollar index, which measures the performance of the US currency against a basket of 6 major currencies, slightly declined to 102.16 points, while the dollar fell against the Japanese yen by 0.06% to 158.245 yen, amid limited trading due to the Japanese market holiday.

The euro rose by 0.1% to 1.121 dollars, and the British pound increased by the same percentage to 1.3245 dollars, while the Australian dollar remained stable at 0.69815 dollars, and the New Zealand dollar at 0.56080 dollars.

In Asian markets, the Indian rupee strengthened by about 1% to 95.8 rupees against the dollar, while the Korean won rose by 0.5% to 1334 won per dollar.

The markets are awaiting the release of the US Consumer Price Index data (next Wednesday, October 14), ahead of the Federal Reserve meeting scheduled for October 27 and 28, to make its decision regarding interest rates.
